Fill your heart with joy – a few of my favourite spring images

My Photography has always been about me and my kids.

I have such happy memories of having two little ones at home, but the days were long and the routine monotonous. I loved taking photos of them, and what started as quick snaps of them on my phone soon started to develop into a real love of photography.

It’s funny when they’re little. You have both loads of time and no time at all. I found that I got a total buzz from photography and loved to read books and watch tutorials when I could, and then practice what I’d learnt the next day.

Having a hobby that was just for me that I could incorporate into family life made me unbelievably happy.

FAST FORWARD 3 YEARS

I am now so fortunate to have turned my true passion into a career.

I spend a lot of time photographing and editing other families pictures, and I absolutely love it!

I never want to stop taking special ‘proper’ photos of my kids too though. The bluebells, yellow fields, autumn leaves and conkers are part of their childhood memories.

They came with me in the car for an hour while we searched around for the perfect field for a family shoot that I’ve got next week.

They were so excited that we found this field, it felt like a real joint effort.

Yesterday morning we got up early and went to the field for a play. We had the best time and I’m so pleased with the final images.

Family photos are so much more than just documenting what they look like. They tell a story, capture true emotion and as a mum, they fill my heart with so much joy I feel like I might pop!

These images were taken on my Sony A7riii at 8.30am with the Batis 135mm lens. ISO400, f3.5, 1/1250
